So, I have been having a rough time with my mental health for the past few months which means my body confidence and body image have reverted back to almost where I was at the beginning of this blog. It’s taking up a lot of my headspace daily and I am bullying myself constantly about the way I look. There have been a few good days but on the whole it has not been great.

This has brought on a lot of feelings of failure so in order to combat this I have been reading old blog posts to see how far I have come. I have also been looking at the messages that many of you have sent me over the two years of this blog. Messages of empathy, understanding, thanks but mostly messages of inspiration from people who have been through it and out the other side.

Your messages of encouragment as well as your words of love about your own bodies has shown me that for every step backwards, there will be many leaps forward and that there is hope in the darkness. These messages have inspired me to create a side project.

I would like to ask any womxn who feels in a good place with their body image to become part of a project called ‘Every Body is a Bikini Body’. I would like to interview you and photograph you in a bikini to create an exhibition celebrating body appreciation in a world that would much rather we hate ourselves. I will be collaborating with the wonderful photographer Ali Wright on this project (check her work out here) and we hope to create a book of all the images and interviews.

If you are interested, please just send an e-mail to amy@amyfleming.net or use the contact form on this website. If you do not wish to take part but you know someone who would love to then please pass the details on to them.

Also, if there is anyone out there who would like to help me produce this exhibition or provide a space for it please do get in touch too!

I think this could be really exciting and inspiring for those of us still in the darkness.

Love ,

A

P.S. Inspiration credit must also go to the amazing Jo Bowis and her amazing book Express Yourself. A Mamoir. Check it out and buy it here!!
